Privacy policy

Who we are

Sayd is run by Yves Vonsaata, trading as Sayd ("we"). We are responsible for (the controller of) the personal data described here. Postal address: available on request from hello@getsayd.xyz. Privacy questions and requests: hello@getsayd.xyz.

What Sayd's server stores

Exactly this, and nothing else:

• your email address and your name;
• how you signed in (Google or an email code);
• your plan (Free, Pro or Founding);
• your billing (monthly or yearly) and your renewal date;
• your customer and subscription IDs from Paddle;
• how many cloud words you used each week (the count, never the words);
• your sign-in sessions, stored only in a scrambled form, which end after 180 days without use.

The server never stores your audio or your text. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name and email address with us, and we don't ask for anything else. We never see or store your card details.

We use this to create and run your account, sign you in, apply the free plan's weekly limit and send emails about your account (sign-in codes, a welcome email and messages when your plan changes). The legal basis is our contract with you. If you email us, we use what you write to answer you, which is in our legitimate interest in helping you.

What happens to what you say

• On your Mac (the default): Sayd uses Apple's speech engine, which runs on your Mac, and an AI model that also runs on your Mac, so your audio never leaves it. The on-device AI model is downloaded once from Hugging Face.
• With Fast: your audio, and the text to be tidied, are sent through Sayd's server to our AI providers, Groq and Cerebras, which turn them into text and return the result. Pro's writing runs on Cerebras when it is available. If they can't be reached, Cloudflare Workers AI does the same job as a backup, without keeping the data. Sayd's server keeps none of it. The provider processes the request under its own terms and privacy policy.
• Your history of dictations, your Dictionary, writing styles, summaries and settings are stored only on your Mac. You can clear your history any time in Settings, AI and privacy.
• The app you're typing in: Sayd checks which app is in front so it can use that app's writing style. This stays on your Mac.

Who we share data with

Only with companies that help us run Sayd, and only what each one needs:

• Paddle.com, our reseller and Merchant of Record, which handles checkout, payments, tax, receipts and refunds. Paddle collects your payment details itself under its own privacy policy.
• Cloudflare, which hosts Sayd's server and database and forwards email sent to hello@getsayd.xyz.
• Groq and Cerebras, our AI providers, and Cloudflare Workers AI as the backup, which process audio and text when you use Fast. If we add or change a provider, we will update this list.
• Google, when you choose to sign in with Google.
• Resend, which delivers Sayd's emails. We don't send newsletters or marketing emails.
• Hugging Face, which sees the download request when the on-device model is downloaded.
• Professional advisers and authorities, only where the law requires it.

We never sell personal data and we don't share it for advertising.

Technical logs

Sayd's server keeps short technical logs, such as how long a request took and whether it failed. They never include what you said or wrote. Cloudflare may process your IP address to keep the service secure.

International transfers

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, transfers are protected by safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK's International Data Transfer Addendum.

How long we keep it

• Everything Sayd's server stores: while your account is open. You can delete your account at any time in Sayd (Settings, Plan and account, Delete account), which erases it straight away, or email hello@getsayd.xyz from your account's email address and we erase it within 30 days. Deleting cancels any Pro subscription first, so you aren't charged again.
• Billing records: kept by Paddle for as long as tax law requires.
• Emails to us: up to two years after the conversation ends.
• Audio and text from Fast: not kept.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, give you a copy to take elsewhere, or stop or limit using it. Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time. Write to hello@getsayd.xyz and we will reply within one month. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access to our systems is limited and protected, and keys are kept in secure stores rather than in code. Nothing is perfectly secure, so we keep as little as we can.

Cookies

This website doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. The pages Paddle opens for checkout may use cookies needed to take the payment.

Children

Sayd is not meant for anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and tell you by email if the change is important.
