1. These terms

These terms cover the Sayd app for Mac, your Sayd account and this website. By downloading, signing in to or using Sayd, you agree to them. If you keep using Sayd after we update these terms, you agree to the updated version. If you don't agree, please stop using Sayd.

2. What Sayd is

Sayd is dictation software. You talk, and Sayd writes your words into the app you are using. It can tidy what you said, for example by removing filler words, fixing punctuation, rewriting in a style you choose or turning Nigerian Pidgin into English. Dictation can run on your Mac, or through Sayd's cloud when you turn on Fast.

3. Your account

You need a Sayd account to use the app. You can sign in with Google or with a code we email you. Keep access to your email and Google account safe, because anyone with access to them can sign in as you. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You must be at least 16 to use Sayd. Keep your account to yourself.

4. Plans and payment

• Free includes unlimited dictation on your Mac and 4,000 cloud words a week. When the cloud words run out, Sayd switches to dictation on your Mac until the next Monday.
• Pro is a subscription, billed $6 a month or $54 a year. It renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
• Founding member is a single payment of $79 that keeps Pro on your account for as long as Sayd runs. It is limited to the first 500 people and never renews.

Paddle.com sells Sayd to you as our reseller and Merchant of Record. Paddle takes the payment, charges any sales tax or VAT that applies where you live, and sends your receipts. Your purchase is also covered by Paddle's buyer terms. Prices are shown before you pay. If we change the price of Pro, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal.

You can cancel Pro at any time from Manage billing in Sayd. Pro stays on until the end of the period you paid for and then stops. Refunds are covered by our refund policy, which includes a 30-day money-back guarantee.

5. Using Sayd fairly

You may not use Sayd to:

• break the law or help anyone else break it;
• commit fraud, send spam or deceive people, including passing off AI-written text as a statement by someone else;
• create illegal content, sexual content about someone without their consent, deepfakes, or content that harasses or promotes hate against anyone;
• expose someone's private information without their permission;
• infringe anyone's copyright, trademarks or other rights;
• get around the free plan's weekly limit, or share one account between several people;
• resell Sayd's cloud features, or call Sayd's server from anything other than the Sayd app;
• spread malware, probe, overload or attack our systems, get around safety measures (including trying to make the AI ignore its instructions), or scrape or copy the service.

6. Your words and the AI

What you say and the text Sayd writes from it belong to you. You are responsible for what you dictate, for checking the text before you send or publish it, and for having the right to use anything you dictate.

Sayd uses speech recognition and AI models to write your words. They can mishear you, leave things out or change your meaning. Always read the text before you rely on it. Sayd is not a source of medical, legal, financial or other professional advice, and its output should not be used for decisions like that without a qualified person checking it.

Sayd does not keep your audio or the text it writes. How your words are handled is explained in our privacy policy. If you believe something made with Sayd infringes your rights, or breaks these terms, write to hello@getsayd.xyz and we will look into it and remove access where needed.

7. Our software

We own Sayd, its software, its name and its design. While you follow these terms, we give you a personal, non-transferable right to install and use Sayd on your own Macs. You may not resell it, copy it for others, or try to take apart its code except where the law allows.

8. Service and changes

We work hard to keep Sayd running well, but we can't promise it will always be available, fast or free of errors. Sayd depends on services from other companies, such as AI and hosting providers, that may change or stop. When they are slow or unavailable, dictation on your Mac keeps working. We may add, change or remove features, and we will give notice of changes that take away something you paid for. If we ever stop offering Sayd, we will tell you at least 30 days before.

9. Suspending or closing accounts

We may suspend or close an account if it breaks these terms in a serious way or more than once, if a payment fails and isn't fixed, or if it puts Sayd, its users or others at risk of fraud or harm. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. You can stop using Sayd at any time, and delete your account in Sayd (Settings, Plan and account) or by emailing hello@getsayd.xyz.

10. Responsibility

Sayd is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, lost profits or lost data, or for anything caused by text you sent without checking it. If we are responsible for a loss, our total responsibility is limited to the amount you paid for Sayd in the 12 months before it happened. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country where Sayd's maker lives. This doesn't take away any protection you have under the consumer laws of the country where you live.
